Even if swedish is not your native language I guess you've already figured out that it translates to the Racinghistoric Club and it is the national Swedish organisation for people with an interest in historic racing cars and racing in the past. RHK as we abbreviate the name, was founded April 1978 by a number of enthusiasts that felt the need for an organized way of racing cars of the past. Since then RHK has grown in terms of members and arrangements and the operation today is recognized by the Svenska Bilsportförbundet, the national organizing body of all motorsport in Sweden and a member in the FIA General Assembly.

As RHK was founded, they tried to capture the ideas behind the the club and create a kind of guideline or foundation for the years to come. This is an attempt to translate this to English.

"Historic racing has a particular trademark of its own. It's not an equal alternative to contemporary 'real' racing. A race has ultimately only one purpose - to produce a winner. An historic racecar should never simply become a tool to achieve this sole goal. It must be experienced with all human senses - with its advantages and disadvantages. Then, it will bring all the joy, both to the driver and the spectator - and that's what it's all about. With a proper balance between racing and the sense for the historic authenticity of the cars, we will all become winners - even those who never crosses the finishing line first"

RHK today has about 375 members and from these appr. 50% are active, either holding a valid racing license and for the rest, either supportive or involved in the technical or historical part of historic racing.

RHK organizes or co-organize about 5-6 races annually, held at the various circuits mainly spread in the southern part of Sweden. These events are open to anyone holding a valid racing license (international or a national issued within the EU) and racing a car with valid FIA papers as proof of compliance to FIA App K.

Since most circuits are located in the southern part of Sweden, the driving distances are fairly decent from the major ferry ports, Halsingborg and Gothenburg or the Oresund bridge from Copenhagen to Malmo. Highway standard is very good and fuel prices just as bad as in any other country in Europe. Lodging, ranging from decent to luxury, is available at most circuits. The generic price level is roughly as in the rest of the northern part of Europe apart from alcoholic beverages which are expensive. Bring your own, and by the way, bring some for us poor Swedes too...
